In 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 SAWPA received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Financial Report (Audit) from the Government Finance Officers Association.
Since 2007, SAWPA has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for the Budget.
In 2011, SAWPA also received the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers – Certificate of Award for Outstanding Financial Reporting for its CAFR ending June 30, 2011.
Commissioner Compensation and Benefits Transparency
Currently, the SAWPA Commission is comprised of five representatives and five alternates who meet twice a month, except in the months of August and December. Three compensation payment preferences are offered. Depending upon the payment preference chosen, SAWPA Commissioners may receive a maximum per diem compensation of $197.82, plus mileage at the current IRS rate. Based upon the payment preference chosen by the Commissioner, and the compensation that is paid by their respective member agency, compensation amounts may differ for each Commissioner.
There is a maximum of 10 meetings per month, including the two monthly SAWPA Commission meetings that each member agency may pay their respective Director.
No benefits are offered.

Enterprise Systems Catalog
Approved on October 11, 2015, SB 272 adds a section to the California Public Records Act requiring local agencies to create a catalog of Enterprise Systems by
July 1, 2016 with annual updates.
