Legislation

Overview

SAWPA staff monitor ongoing state and federal legislation to evaluate impacts on water resources in the watershed, but we also actively work with legislators to identify and implement laws, regulations, and funding opportunities that improve the water situation for the region.

SAWPA's Legislative Activities

SAWPA's Commission created a Legislative Committee in 2000.  SAWPA holds a regularly scheduled legislative Committee meeting every month on the first Tuesday of the month.  Click on the Calendar button to check for scheduled meetings; the agendas for each meeting include an update of Legislative activities that are important to SAWPA.

In late February, 2005, SAWPA sent an appropriations request letter to Chairman Jerry Lewis, of the U.S. Congress Committee on Appropriations, regarding funding requests for a variety of SCIWP projects.  SAWPA also requested funding from the Bureau of Reclamation to support the Southern California Comprehensive Water Reclamation and Reuse Study.
