INTERNSHIPS GIS, Technology, and Water Resources Internship Riverside, Ca. Salary: $10.00 per hour SAWPA seeks resumes from applicants with basic education or experience in GIS or watershed planning for part-time (approximately half-time) temporary intern positions. For the GIS position, ArcGIS or ArcView experience, GPS experience and general data and coverage maintenance are skills that can be practiced and acquired. Data analysis, graphics/cartography, and interaction of GIS products with other software products are also skills that can be developed and applied. Experience with web design/maintenance, graphics, and other project support may also be gained. General personal computer and work skills will be used; ability to use MS Office products, graphics creation/editing products, and/or image editing software products are a bonus. Experience or familiarity with GPS systems, well information, hydrogeology, groundwater analysis and monitoring will be very helpful.

Salary: $10.00 per hour Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority (SAWPA) is seeking the services of a university or college student currently majoring in environmental science, civil engineering, water resource planning, or related technical field to assist staff in evaluating, planning, and developing a variety of water resources and environmental planning studies and projects for a regional watershed based public agency located in Riverside, CA. Essential duties include assisting staff in the development of regional water resource studies; watershed management planning, environmental restoration projects, interpreting water regulations and preparing water resource grant applications. The successful candidate for this position should possess basic organizational, technical and computer skills. Strong written communication skills are desired. Position is a part-time position with full time status available during summer months and/or part time during school year with a total limit of 12 months. An intern must hold an unpaid level for a probationary period of the first 40 hours to qualify for a paid position. Work hours are flexible. The department is responsible for operating and maintaining the Santa Ana Regional Interceptor (SARI), a regional brine/wastewater pipeline and managing multiple grant contracts. The student will assist SAWPA staff in planning, designing, and contracting for major maintenance and repair activities and capital projects for the SARI, and preparing documents related to grant contract management. Students interested in this position should possess basic organizational, technical, computer, and oral/written communication skills. Interns working at SAWPA will get hands-on technical experience in water resources facilities, issues and management. The position is part-time during the school year for up to 12 months maximum with full time status available during summer months. Work hours are flexible to accommodate school schedules.
