  • OWOW Plan Update 2018

    PUBLIC COMMENTS

The Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority is pleased to make available a public review draft of the One Water One Watershed Plan Update 2018.  Crafted over the past two years with engagement from hundreds of participants, this Plan describes the shared goals for achieving a sustainable Santa Ana River watershed, and recommended strategies for getting there by 2040.  Compliant with the 2016 Integrated Regional Water Management Plan Standards issued by Department of Water Resources, the OWOW Plan Update 2018 supports water and land management planning throughout the watershed.

Between now and December 14, all stakeholders are welcome to submit comments about the draft, which is available as downloadable .pdf files at the following links:

Comments received by December 14, 2018 will be incorporated in a list of comments, with responses, in an appendix of the Final plan.

  • Call for Projects

Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) Proposition 1, Round 1 Grant Funding

DWR recently issued a Draft 2018 Proposal Solicitation Package for Round 1 of Proposition 1 IRWM grant funding (view it here). Note that the Santa Ana River watershed’s IRWM grant application is to be prepared by the OWOW program as a regional suite of projects.

Proposition 1 authorized $510 million for the State’s IRWM grant program, of which $63 million was allocated for the Santa Ana Funding Area. 10% of the grant funding available for implementation projects is reserved for projects serving disadvantaged communities.

SAWPA is calling for projects to include in our IRWM Proposition 1, Round 1 Implementation Grant application. The Call for Projects is open through January 22nd for applicants that want their projects to be scored, ranked, and potentially included in the grant application. There is approximately $24 million expected to be available for the Santa Ana Funding Area in this round of funding.

Please note: Proposition 1 requires a minimum cost share of 50% of the total project cost. All projects considered for grant funding must do the following:

    1. 1. address the most critical needs of the IRWM region and address OWOW Plan goals,
    2. 2. be consistent with Statewide Priorities,
    3. 3. have an expected useful life of at least 15 years, and
    4. 4. have CEQA completed and permits necessary to begin construction acquired within 6 months of funding award or prior to agreement execution (anticipated early 2020).

For your project to be considered, project information must be entered here: http://www.sawpa.net/owow2018/main.htm.
