Don’t miss the most dynamic event of the year - The Second Annual OWOW Conference: Working Together for a Sustainable Future on Earth Day, April 22, 2010, at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim. We’re expecting to draw leaders from throughout the watershed who will discuss key issues, such as partnerships to benefit the watershed, regional economics, and future funding opportunities to ensure sufficient, high-quality water into the future.
SAWPA has initiated the One Water, One Watershed (OWOW) process that considers all stakeholders, powerful and disadvantaged, all water resources, large and small, and asks stakeholders to check their identify at the door and to be citizens of the Santa Ana River Watershed that look at the whole hydraulic system, natural and manmade, collaborate across boundaries, and work together to think big in creating a watershed that provides for a robust economy and sustainable environment.
SAWPA Chair Terry Catlin stated, “The OWOW watershed approach is a model of integrated regional water management planning for the State. By working together, we’ll build stronger partnerships, find local solutions to our regional water challenges, while leveraging our resources to assure that our watershed is protected for future generations.”

This innovative planning process and watershed approach, "One Water One Watershed" (OWOW) also will be a conference focus. SAWPA Vice Chair Phil Anthony commented, “For decades, SAWPA has worked very hard in developing relationships with all watershed parties working with water. The OWOW “watershed approach” folds in interests from all disciplines, crossing three counties’ boundaries, working together to find regional water solutions to make our watershed sustainable. And, we are very proud to be a part of the unique OWOW planning process. This conference provides an innovative and interactive forum for all the parties to come together.”
SAWPA will present three prestigious watershed awards in honor of outstanding work to improve the Santa Ana River Watershed prior to the special luncheon presentation by Dr. Ellen Hanak regarding the California Water Myths.
