Did you notice that SAWPA lost its water-guzzling grassy area? Landscape architect, David Neault & Associates, Inc. has created plans to transform this area into a beautiful, low-water use demonstration garden.
SAWPA’s garden features five specific sections: “Native Color”, “Now You’re Cookin”, “Brown Thumb”, “Creative Comforts”, and the SARI “Living Desert”. The
Native Color section
showcases 100%
California Native plants with many varieties loaded with punches of color. The Now You’re Cookin
section features herbs and veggies growing along side
of pots and pans
focusing on growing produce locally to
reduce our carbon footprint. The Brown Thumb section demonstrates plant varieties that anyone can grow! The Creative Comforts section showcases drought
tolerant plantings that attract butterflies and hummingbirds, as well as reflects the natural beauty of low-water use plants. The SARI Living Desert section presents an interesting variety of succulents and cactus, enhanced by a re-circulating stream flowing through an actual SARI pipe segment and other clay pipe segments that were donated by National Clay Pipe Institute and Mission Clay Products. This recycled water flow, which is representative of the SARI flows, is used as a tool to share the SARI brine line story. |
